New Delhi [India], August 16 (ANI): A 24-year-old delivery worker was stabbed to death in southwest Delhi’s Vikaspuri area late Friday night following a drunken quarrel over a financial dispute, police said.
The deceased, identified as Ashish Verma, a resident of Bhudella village, was attacked around 12:20 am by two neighbors during an altercation. His father, Ramsurat Verma, immediately alerted the police after the incident. Ashish was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
According to the medico-legal case report, Ashish sustained a deep stab wound on the left side of his chest. His body has been preserved in the mortuary for a post-mortem examination. A crime team also inspected the scene.
Police identified the attackers as Bhajan Lal (32) and Rakesh (30), residents of Deepak Vihar, Nilothi Extension. Ashish’s mother alleged in her statement that the accused, who were drinking, stabbed her son during a heated argument over money.
Both accused have been apprehended. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and further investigation is underway, officials confirmed.
Earlier this week, police also received a separate complaint involving a firing incident in East Delhi. On Tuesday night, Shivam Sharma, a resident of Old Arjun Nagar, Jagat Puri, alleged that three men fired shots near Taj Enclave, Geeta Colony, during a dispute over borrowed money.
According to police, Shivam and his friend had confronted Sheetal and her husband Sonu, residents of Kundan Nagar, over unpaid dues. An argument broke out near Jagatpuri Red Light, during which Shadab, Harshu, and Raman—alleged associates of the couple—arrived and a scuffle ensued. Shivam alleged that Shadab fired two rounds at him, but he escaped unhurt and reported the matter to the police.
The complainant, however, was found to have a prior case against him under Section 307 IPC (attempt to murder). Delhi Police said appropriate legal action is being taken in the matter. (ANI)
