NEW DELHI, India — Feb. 19, 2026 — Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday met Swedish Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch, emphasizing India’s emergence as a premier global investment destination and reaffirming both nations’ commitment to strengthening collaboration under the India–European Union Free Trade Agreement framework.
Goyal shared details of the meeting on his official X account, describing it as a productive interaction and highlighting the complementary strengths of both countries.

Highlighted India’s rise as a premier global investment destination, backed by a vast market and an investor-friendly FDI ecosystem. We reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening collaboration in green technology, research and development, and advancing engagement under the India-EU FTA framework. India’s skilled youth and Sweden’s innovation strength make us natural partners for sustainable growth,” Goyal wrote.
Busch arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday to attend the India AI Impact Summit 2026. The Ministry of External Affairs welcomed her visit, noting the broad scope of India–Sweden cooperation across sectors including trade, economy, science, innovation, climate action, and education.
The India AI Impact Summit 2026 is being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from Feb. 16 through Feb. 20. The summit has brought together policymakers, artificial intelligence experts, industry leaders, academics, technology innovators, and civil society representatives from around the world to advance global discussions on artificial intelligence.
The event, described as the first global AI summit hosted in the Global South, aims to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence while aligning with India’s national vision of “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya” — welfare and well-being for all — and the broader global principle of AI for humanity.
