NEW DELHI, Feb. 24 (ANI) — Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a State visit to Israel on February 25–26 at the invitation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Ministry of External Affairs announced Tuesday.
The visit marks Modi’s second trip to Israel, following his landmark 2017 visit, when he became the first Indian prime minister to travel to the country.
During the visit, Modi will hold bilateral talks with Netanyahu to review progress in the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and explore expanded cooperation in science and technology, innovation, defense and security, agriculture, water management, trade, and people-to-people exchanges.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the leaders will also exchange views on key regional and global developments of mutual interest.
The prime minister is also scheduled to meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
The visit is expected to reaffirm the deep and longstanding strategic relationship between the two countries and provide an opportunity to address shared challenges while advancing a common vision for stronger bilateral ties between the two democracies.
Highlighting the significance of the visit, Netanyahu on Sunday described the upcoming engagement as “historic,” emphasizing the growing strategic alignment between the two nations.
In a post on X, Netanyahu referred to Modi as a “dear friend” and underscored the strengthening partnership between India and Israel.
“This morning, at the opening of our Cabinet meeting, I spoke about the historic visit of my dear friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to Israel this coming Wednesday,” Netanyahu said.
Calling the relationship a “powerful alliance between two global leaders,” Netanyahu noted that India and Israel are cooperating closely in innovation, security, and strategic initiatives.
“Together, we are building an axis of nations committed to stability and progress,” he said, referring to collaboration in emerging technologies and broader geopolitical coordination.
Netanyahu confirmed that Modi will deliver a speech at the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, and participate in an innovation event in Jerusalem. The itinerary also includes a joint visit to Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center.
Reflecting on their personal rapport, Netanyahu recalled their longstanding friendship, noting frequent communication and past meetings that have helped strengthen bilateral ties.
He added that the visit would further advance cooperation across economic, diplomatic, and security domains.
Netanyahu also outlined a broader strategic vision involving India, Arab countries, African nations, and Mediterranean partners, aimed at strengthening regional stability and countering security challenges.
He emphasized that collaboration in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing would be a key focus, helping both countries remain at the forefront of global innovation. (ANI)
