This marked Jaishankar’s first meeting with Kombos since the latter assumed office.
Kombos, in a post on X, described the meeting as a meaningful exchange, highlighting discussions on strengthening the Cyprus-India strategic partnership, particularly in light of the upcoming visit of President Nikos Christodoulides to India.
He also noted that the talks covered EU-India relations following the recent EU-India Summit and progress on the EU-India Free Trade Agreement, as well as the concerning developments in the Middle East.
Kombos emphasized that diplomacy and dialogue remain the only sustainable path toward de-escalation and stability.
Jaishankar is on an official visit to Brussels from March 15 to 16 at the invitation of European Union High Representative and Vice President Kaja Kallas to participate in the Foreign Affairs Council Meeting with foreign ministers of the 27 EU member states.
During the visit, Jaishankar is also scheduled to meet European Union leadership and his counterparts from Belgium and other EU member states.
The visit, coming shortly after the 16th India-EU Summit, is expected to further deepen India’s strategic partnership with the European Union. (ANI)
