Maryland, March 2026 — The 29th Annual Maryland Akhand Keertan Samagam brought together more than 1,500 Gursikhs from across North America and around the world, reaffirming its place as a significant spiritual gathering within the global Sikh community. Participants traveled from Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, India, and various regions across the United States to take part in the annual event.
Established in 1997, the Maryland Samagam has grown into a cherished tradition held each year in early March at rotating locations across Maryland and Virginia. The event centers on continuous devotion through Shabad Keertan, fostering unity and spiritual reflection among the sangat.
This year’s Samagam commenced on the evening of Wednesday, March 4, 2026, with an opening program at Singh Sabha of Virginia Gurdwara in Fairfax, Virginia. The following evening’s divaan took place on Thursday, March 5, at Raj Khalsa Gurdwara in Sterling, Virginia. On Friday, March 6, the program continued at the residence of Gurdeep Singh in Boyds, Maryland, followed by an early morning Amrit Vela and Nitnem session at the same location.
The main events were held on Saturday, March 7, beginning with the Asa-Ki-Vaar Keertan Divaan in the morning and culminating in the highly anticipated Rehan Sabahi Keertan later that evening at the Gurdwara Guru Nanak Foundation of America (GNFA) in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The Rehan Sabahi Keertan drew an estimated 1,500 attendees, filling the main hall to capacity. Despite limited space, members of the sangat continued to accommodate one another, ensuring participation in the spiritually charged atmosphere. The keertan continued throughout the night, with a majority of attendees remaining उपस्थित in devotion until the program concluded at approximately 5:30 a.m., with the hall still full.
This year’s Samagam featured a distinguished lineup of keertaniyaas from across the globe, including Giani Gurdev Singh Jee (Sydney, Australia), Bhai Bikramjeet Singh Jee ‘Garhi’ (California), Bhai Davinderbir Singh Jee (United Kingdom), Bhai Gurpreet Singh Jee ‘Jalandhar’ (New Jersey), Bhai Jaspal Singh Jee ‘Channi’ (New Jersey), Bhai Sangatren Singh Jee (Toronto, Canada), Bibi Jaskirtan Kaur Jee (Toronto, Canada), Bhai Harkamal Singh Jee (New Jersey), Bibi Prabhsimar Kaur Jee (Vancouver, Canada), Bibi Rehmat Kaur Jee (Vancouver, Canada), Bhai Ikraj Singh Jee (Vancouver, Canada), Bibi Simranjot Kaur Jee (Toronto, Canada), Bhai Karandeep Singh Jee (Toronto, Canada), Bhai Ravjot Singh Jee (Australia), Bhai Jugmohan Singh Jee (Hazuri Raagi, GNFA, Maryland), Bhai Piram Singh Jee (California), Bhai Jasjot Singh Jee (Maryland), Bhai Gursimarjit Singh Jee (Maryland), Bhai Baljeevan Singh Jee (North Carolina), Bhai Gurjot Singh Jee (Virginia), Bhai Amitesvarjit Singh Jee (Maryland), Bibi Harleen Kaur Jee (Virginia), and Bhai Ashveer Singh Jee (Pennsylvania).
A notable highlight of the gathering was the strong participation of Sikh youth. Many young Gursikhs, dressed in traditional Gursikh Baanaa, remained उपस्थित throughout the night, attentively engaging in the divaan and continuously reciting the Naam of Waheguru. Their dedication offered a powerful testament to the enduring spiritual commitment of the younger generation.
The entire Samagam was broadcast live via Facebook and the DC Sikh Sangat YouTube channel, enabling thousands of viewers worldwide to join virtually and share in the experience.
As the Maryland Akhand Keertan Samagam continues to grow in scale and reach, it stands as a profound reflection of the unity, devotion, and spiritual continuity of the global Sikh community—carried forward with enthusiasm and reverence by both elders and youth alike.
