Manama [Bahrain], April 5 (ANI): Iranian drones struck the Bahraini Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company on Sunday, sparking fires in several operational units, Al Jazeera reported.
Citing the Bahrain News Agency, Al Jazeera reported that the fire was later brought under control, and no casualties were reported. An assessment of the damage to inventory is currently underway.
The incident comes amid broader regional hostilities, with several West Asian countries increasingly drawn into the conflict following Iran’s retaliation to US-Israel strikes.
Earlier, two power generation units in Kuwait were shut down after an Iranian drone attack targeted two power and water desalination plants, according to a spokesperson for Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy. No casualties were reported.
Spokesperson Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat said, “Technical and emergency teams have commenced their work according to approved emergency plans, in coordination with relevant authorities, to ensure the safety and stability of the electricity and water systems, which are of paramount importance. All technical teams are working around the clock to guarantee the continuity of services.”
The developments followed another drone attack that triggered a fire at Kuwait’s Shuwaikh Oil Sector Complex, Al Jazeera reported Sunday, citing Kuwaiti state media.
Iran has also carried out attacks on the United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, the Israeli Air Force has struck more than 120 targets in Iran.
“24-hour recap: The IAF struck 120+ targets of the Iranian regime in central and western Iran. Targets included ballistic missile array sites, UAV production and launching sites, and air defense sites,” the Israel Defense Forces posted on X.
The Israeli military also claimed to have killed 90 “terrorists” in southern Lebanon since the conflict began on February 28, including two Hezbollah militants in the last 24 hours, Al Jazeera reported.
Hostilities in the region began on February 28 with joint US and Israeli strikes against Iran. Iran’s retaliatory actions and strikes by its proxies across West Asia have since widened the conflict across the Gulf region, disrupting oil and natural gas trade. (ANI)
