Tehran [Iran], April 8 (ANI): Iran has outlined a comprehensive 10-point framework for resolving the ongoing conflict in West Asia, emphasizing non-aggression and continued control over the Strait of Hormuz as central elements of its proposal.
The plan comes as US President Donald Trump announced a two-week suspension of the “bombing and attack” campaign on Iran, describing Tehran’s proposal as a workable basis for negotiations.
According to the framework, the United States is expected to commit to key principles, including non-aggression and recognition of Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route.
One of the most significant demands is Washington’s acceptance of uranium enrichment as part of Iran’s nuclear program, a longstanding point of contention between Tehran, the United States, and the international community.
Iran has also called for sweeping economic relief, including the lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions that have heavily impacted its economy.
The proposal further includes demands for the termination of United Nations Security Council resolutions and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors resolutions related to Iran’s nuclear activities, a move that would significantly reduce international oversight.
Additionally, Tehran has sought financial compensation for damages incurred during the conflict and called for the withdrawal of US combat forces from the region.
The plan also calls for a broader cessation of hostilities across all fronts, including conflicts involving allied groups in the region.
The proposal emerges amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with diplomatic efforts ongoing but significant differences remaining between the two sides.
Earlier, Trump said the 10-point proposal could serve as the foundation for a permanent agreement, adding that the United States has already achieved most of its military objectives.
“Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir of Pakistan, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the complete, immediate, and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double-sided ceasefire,” Trump said.
He added that Washington is close to reaching a long-term peace agreement with Tehran.
“We received a 10-point proposal from Iran and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate,” he said.
Trump further noted that most points of contention between the two sides have been addressed, and the two-week pause would allow time to finalize a comprehensive agreement.
“Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran, but a two-week period will allow the agreement to be finalized and consummated,” he said. (ANI)
