Tel Aviv [Israel], April 11 (ANI): The Israeli military has claimed that its forces targeted more than 200 Hezbollah sites across Lebanon over the past 24 hours, according to an operational update released on Saturday.
In a post on X, the military stated that its air force would continue to strike Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon as part of its ongoing campaign.
Amid the continued military activity, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that the ceasefire in Lebanon was part of an agreement in talks with the United States, according to Iranian state media outlet Press TV.
Press TV also reported that the spokesperson’s remarks were confirmed by the Pakistani side and that the Iranian delegation is in contact with Hezbollah regarding developments on the ground.
These developments come as trilateral ceasefire talks between the United States, Iran, and Pakistan have begun in Islamabad. Al Jazeera reported that the talks represent the highest-level engagement between Washington and Tehran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Ahead of formal discussions with the United States, the Iranian negotiating team held a strategic meeting in the Pakistani capital to finalize its agenda.
Earlier, US Vice President JD Vance held a high-level meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to a statement from the White House.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also met with Prime Minister Sharif to discuss the diplomatic roadmap.
The Serena Hotel has emerged as the focal point of diplomatic activity, with both Iranian and American delegations arriving at the venue under tight security.
Visuals from outside the hotel showed heightened movement as international representatives convened for the talks.
The US delegation, led by JD Vance, includes Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has described the negotiations as “make-or-break.”
Held under stringent security, the discussions aim to stabilize a fragile ceasefire announced on April 8 and address the future of regional security.
Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref had earlier indicated that the outcome depends on the American approach. In a post on X, he suggested that a mutually beneficial agreement is possible if the US engages constructively.
However, he warned that failure to reach an understanding could result in intensified conflict and greater global consequences. (ANI)
