Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], April 29 (ANI): Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) spokesperson Radhan Pandit on Wednesday asserted that actor-turned-politician Vijay will become Chief Minister, dismissing exit poll projections released after the conclusion of polling.
“We are just ignoring these exit polls. I am sure we are going to sweep this election with above 170 or above 140 seats. We studied very well. We had our personal survey. We are sure about a minimum 45 percent vote share. It’s not between 20–25 percent… 108 hours to go for the election counting… in the 109th hour, we are going to take the oath. Our Vijay will become the Chief Minister,” Pandit told ANI.
Actor-turned-politician Vijay’s TVK is projected to deliver a strong performance in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, according to the Axis My India exit poll, which also noted that the party could secure a vote share comparable to the DMK in its debut election.
The exit poll projected that the seven-party alliance led by the DMK would secure 92–100 seats, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) 98–120 seats, and the five-party alliance led by the AIADMK 22–32 seats.
According to Axis My India, Vijay is ahead of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin as the preferred choice for the next Chief Minister. While Stalin received support from 35 percent of respondents, Vijay garnered 37 percent.
Several other exit polls predicted that the alliance led by the ruling DMK will return to power in the state. People Pulse projected 125–145 seats for the DMK-led alliance and 65–80 seats for the AIADMK-led alliance, which also includes the BJP. It projected that Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) would secure two to six seats.
Tamil Nadu has 234 Assembly seats.
According to exit poll projections by Matrize, the DMK and its allies are expected to secure 122–132 seats, while the AIADMK and its allies may win 80–100 seats. It projected that TVK would secure 0–6 seats.
The P-MARQ exit poll projected 125–145 seats for the DMK-led alliance, 60–70 seats for the AIADMK-led alliance, and one to six seats for TVK. People Insight projected 120–140 seats for the DMK-led alliance, 60–70 for the AIADMK-led alliance, and 30–40 seats for TVK.
