NEW DELHI, May 7 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday reaffirmed India’s resolve against terrorism on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, saying the country remains strong and determined under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership to counter threats to peace and security.
In a post on X, Jaishankar said the operation reflected India’s determination to defend itself against cross-border terrorism from Pakistan and ensure accountability for terrorist actions.
“A year ago, Operation Sindoor demonstrated the nation’s resolve to defend itself against cross-border terrorism from Pakistan,” Jaishankar wrote.
“With its decisive actions, India ensured accountability for terrorist actions and underlined that such a serious threat to peace and security will be effectively countered. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, India stands strong and determined to convey a message of zero tolerance for terrorism,” he added.
Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita also praised the armed forces and said the world had witnessed that those threatening India’s peace and security could not escape the reach of Indian forces.
In a post on X, Margherita said Operation Sindoor showcased the precision, courage, and strength of the Indian Armed Forces while highlighting seamless coordination among intelligence agencies, strategic leadership, and military forces.
“This historic operation reflected the seamless coordination between our intelligence agencies, strategic leadership, and military forces, as India struck terror infrastructure across the border with unwavering resolve in response to the heinous Pahalgam attack,” he said.
“The world has witnessed that those who threaten India’s peace and security can never escape the reach of our forces,” he added.
Margherita further said, “I salute the extraordinary valor and dedication of our Armed Forces. I also urge everyone to update their display pictures across social media with the image shared below, as a tribute to our brave soldiers and in honor of Operation Sindoor.”
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, 2025, in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians, was described as a calibrated tri-services response marked by precision, professionalism, and purpose.
The operation was conceived as a targeted campaign to dismantle terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and deeper inside Pakistan.
According to officials, multi-agency intelligence confirmed nine major camps that were subsequently targeted during the operation. India’s retaliatory action was based on meticulous planning and an intelligence-led approach aimed at minimizing collateral damage.
Operational ethics remained central to the mission, and restraint was exercised to avoid civilian casualties.
Following Operation Sindoor, Pakistan launched retaliatory drone and unmanned combat aerial vehicle attacks targeting Indian airbases and logistics infrastructure. Indian officials said the attacks were effectively neutralized by the country’s multilayered air defense system.
A key component of the response was the Integrated Command and Control Strategy, which enabled real-time threat identification, assessment, and interception across multiple domains.
Officials said the operation demonstrated operational synergy among the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy, supported by coordinated efforts from government agencies and departments. (ANI)
