WASHINGTON, D.C., May 18 (ANI): US President Donald Trump on Monday again criticized several American media outlets, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and CNN, over their coverage of the ongoing conflict involving Iran, accusing them of misrepresenting Tehran’s military position amid escalating tensions.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that even if Iran were to surrender completely, lose its naval and air capabilities, and formally admit defeat, the media would still portray the situation as a victory for Tehran.
“If Iran surrenders, admits their Navy is gone and resting at the bottom of the sea, and their Air Force is no longer with us, and if their entire Military walks out of Tehran, weapons dropped and hands held high, each shouting ‘I surrender, I surrender’ while wildly waving the representative White Flag, and if their entire remaining Leadership signs all necessary ‘Documents of Surrender,’ and admit their defeat to the great power and force of the magnificent U.S.A., The Failing New York Times, The China Street Journal (WSJ!), Corrupt and now Irrelevant CNN, and all other members of the Fake News Media, will headline that Iran had a Masterful and Brilliant Victory over the United States of America — it wasn’t even close,” Trump wrote.
Trump also criticized Democrats and what he described as “fake news media,” saying, “The Democrats and Media have totally lost their way. They have gone absolutely CRAZY!!!”
The post reflects Trump’s continued criticism of mainstream media coverage of foreign policy and national security issues, particularly relating to Iran.
However, the president did not specify which reports prompted his latest remarks.
Last month, Trump also criticized The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal over their reporting on the Iran conflict.
He accused The New York Times of publishing what he described as false narratives on Iran and called the newspaper’s coverage “fake news,” while demanding an apology for what he termed misleading reporting against him and the United States.
In another post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that despite media portrayals, Iran had been “totally obliterated, militarily and otherwise.”
He also rejected a Wall Street Journal editorial suggesting that his declaration of victory in the Iran conflict was premature.
“The Wall Street Journal, one of the worst and most inaccurate editorial boards in the world, stated that I ‘declared premature victory in Iran,’” Trump posted on Truth Social. (ANI)
