The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts warning of rainfall and lightning activity in several districts across the state.
At the same time, several northern, central, and western Indian states continue to experience severe heatwave conditions, prompting regional administrations to implement emergency measures.
According to the IMD, heatwaves are defined as periods of abnormally high temperatures compared to normal conditions in a region.
Several states are currently recording temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
The IMD’s daily weather bulletin stated that heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely to persist over the next six days.
“Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions prevailed in a few pockets over eastern Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha; heatwave conditions prevailed in many pockets of Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, and Himachal Pradesh; in some pockets of eastern Madhya Pradesh; and in isolated pockets of Uttarakhand, Odisha, Punjab, western Uttar Pradesh, and coastal Andhra Pradesh,” the IMD said.
