GUWAHATI, India, May 31 — The European Union Ambassador and diplomats from EU member nations will visit Assam on June 8-9 as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and promote sustainable economic development, according to the Assam Chief Minister’s Office.
The visit is expected to help launch a roadmap focused on sustainable livelihoods, innovation, and inclusive economic growth.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the initiative aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the expanding partnership between India and the European Union.
In a post on X, the CMO said the visit of the EU Ambassador and diplomats to Guwahati will support efforts to advance development initiatives across the state.
“The European Union’s Blue Valley initiative marks a significant step toward empowering women, farmers, and entrepreneurs in sectors such as flavors, food processing, fragrances, tea, and AYUSH,” the CMO said.
The office also noted that, on the sidelines of the visit and as an outcome of Advantage Assam 2.0, the Bhoomi Poojan ceremony for the INLAMOBI Fragrances & Cosmetics Pilot Project will be held on June 9.
The ceremony will be led by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and is expected to mark the beginning of a new phase of value addition, entrepreneurship, and employment generation in the state.
Following directions from the chief minister, Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota reviewed preparations on Saturday to ensure the successful conduct of the events.
The announcement comes shortly after External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar concluded a two-day official visit to the Republic of Cyprus on May 28.
The visit helped strengthen the recently established strategic partnership between India and Cyprus while advancing India’s engagement with its European partners.
At the invitation of European Union High Representative Kaja Kallas and Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, Jaishankar participated as a special guest at the informal meeting of EU foreign ministers, known as the “Gymnich.”
During the meeting, he took part in high-level discussions on the evolving geopolitical landscape, with particular focus on developments in West Asia and the broader Middle East region. (ANI)
