TEHRAN, June 28 (ANI) — Iran has warned that any new military aggression will be met with a “crushing response” and indicated it may move to regulate maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, amid escalating tensions with the United States and regional actors.
Ibrahim al-Fiqar, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters — the command body coordinating the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iran’s regular armed forces — issued a series of statements on X outlining Tehran’s position.
“Any new aggression, regardless of its pretext or the scale of its objectives, will be met with a crushing response,” al-Fiqar said, adding that violations of the ceasefire would constitute a breach of what he described as the “Islamabad Understanding” and could result in a halt to all diplomatic tracks.
He further stated that under the agreement, Iran would regulate maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and warned that vessels violating what he called established procedures would be dealt with more firmly.
Al-Fiqar also claimed that U.S. forces carried out strikes on five Iranian coastal sites under the pretext of intercepting a vessel, and said Iran responded with missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. infrastructure in Kuwait and Bahrain, including the Ali Al Salem Air Base and facilities linked to the U.S. Fifth Fleet.
He added that Iran remains in control of maritime arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz and warned that any breach of the ceasefire would lead to the suspension of all understandings.
The claims come amid rapidly escalating military exchanges in the region. Earlier, the United States said it had conducted strikes on Iranian missile and drone storage facilities, as well as coastal radar sites, in response to alleged violations of a ceasefire agreement.
U.S. President Donald Trump said the strikes were carried out after Iran’s actions against commercial shipping and warned of further escalation if attacks continued.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said additional violations could prompt even more severe military action, stating that Iran “will no longer exist” if escalation persists.
Regional governments, including Kuwait and Bahrain, have reported heightened alerts following missile and drone activity in the Gulf area. (ANI)
