New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): India has firmly rejected what it called “unwarranted and factually incorrect” references made to the country at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, denouncing the remarks as politically motivated and driven by Pakistan’s ongoing misuse of the OIC platform.
In a strongly worded statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) condemned Pakistan’s persistent efforts to hijack the OIC agenda to further its propaganda, stating that Pakistan has “turned terrorism into statecraft.” The MEA emphasized that such distortions at international forums only serve narrow political ends and undermine the OIC’s credibility.
“The OIC’s continued failure to recognize the real and documented threat of terrorism emanating from Pakistan, most recently seen in the heinous Pahalgam attack, reflects a wilful disregard for facts and the global consensus on counter-terrorism,” the MEA stated.
Reiterating India’s consistent position, the ministry declared that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and sovereign part of India, as enshrined in the Constitution. It said the OIC has no locus standi to comment on India’s internal affairs.
India also took strong exception to Pakistan’s remarks at the OIC, describing them as a desperate ploy to divert global attention from its own record of state-sponsored terrorism, human rights abuses, minority persecution, and sectarian violence.
Rejecting Pakistan’s allegation of “unprovoked and unjustified military aggression,” India clarified that Operation Sindoor, conducted in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, was a targeted and legitimate act of self-defense aimed at terrorist camps operating from Pakistani soil.
The MEA said it was “absurd” for Pakistan to claim its retaliation was limited to Indian military targets, highlighting that Pakistan’s attempted response recklessly endangered civilian lives, causing casualties and damage in civilian areas.
In conclusion, the MEA underscored the irony of Pakistan—a country with a “disastrous human rights record” and known for “harboring, breeding, and empowering terrorists”—attempting to lecture others on counter-terrorism and human rights. India called on the OIC to reflect seriously on the danger of allowing its platform to be co-opted by Pakistan’s agenda, warning that such politicisation risks eroding the OIC’s relevance on the global stage.
