Washington, DC [US], June 29 (ANI): US President Donald Trump on Saturday vehemently denied media reports suggesting that his administration is considering a USD 30 billion agreement with Iran to develop non-military nuclear facilities.
Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Who in the Fake News Media is the SleazeBag saying that ‘President Trump wants to give Iran $30 Billion to build non-military Nuclear facilities.’ Never heard of this ridiculous idea. It’s just another HOAX put out by the Fake News in order to demean. These people are SICK!!!”
The denial comes amid rising tensions following a 12-day military conflict between Iran and Israel, during which the US conducted targeted strikes on Iranian nuclear infrastructure in what was called Operation Midnight Hammer. Trump had previously declared that Iran’s key nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—were “obliterated” in the strikes and warned of further military action if Tehran continues its nuclear ambitions.
Reiterating his position on Friday, Trump stated that Iran must “come back to the world order flow” or risk escalating consequences. He sharply criticized Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s claim of victory in the recent war, calling it a “lie” and “a statement of anger, hatred, and disgust.”
“Why would the so-called ‘Supreme Leader,’ Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, say so blatantly and foolishly that he won the War with Israel, when he knows his statement is a lie?” Trump wrote. “His country was decimated, his three evil Nuclear Sites were OBLITERATED, and I knew EXACTLY where he was sheltered.”
Trump also claimed that he had “saved” Khamenei from assassination by halting a planned Israeli airstrike at the final stage of the conflict. “I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH,” Trump declared, adding that he had ordered a large fleet of Israeli fighter jets to turn back just before a planned attack on Tehran that could have led to mass casualties.
The former president emphasized that despite Khamenei’s claims, Iran suffered severe damage and must not mistake his restraint for weakness. He again stressed that any continuation of Iran’s nuclear development would be met with overwhelming military response.
These comments come amid heightened speculation about backchannel negotiations between Iran and the US. However, Trump’s firm denial of the reported USD 30 billion nuclear deal signals no immediate intention to resume diplomatic engagement with Tehran under his administration.
