New Delhi [India], September 25 (ANI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday congratulated the concerned agencies on the successful launch of the Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile, marking a major milestone in India’s defence capabilities.
“India has carried out the successful launch of Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile from a Rail-based Mobile Launcher system. This next generation missile is designed to cover a range up to 2,000 km and is equipped with various advanced features,” Singh posted on X.
He emphasized that the achievement places India among a select group of nations that have developed a canisterised launch system from a moving rail network. “The first-of-its-kind launch carried out today from a specially designed Rail-based Mobile Launcher has the capability to move on the rail network without any pre-conditions. It allows cross-country mobility and launch within a short reaction time with reduced visibility,” he said.
Congratulating the DRDO, Strategic Forces Command (SFC), and the Armed Forces, Singh called the test “a remarkable step” in strengthening India’s strategic deterrence and self-reliance in defence technology.
Earlier this week, Singh also underscored India’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) while jointly inaugurating Tata Advanced Systems Limited’s (TASL) new state-of-the-art defence manufacturing facility in Berrechid, Morocco, alongside his Moroccan counterpart Abdelatif Loudyi.
Spread over 20,000 square metres, the facility will produce the indigenously developed Wheeled Armoured Platform (WhAP) 8×8, jointly designed by TASL and DRDO. Singh described the occasion as a historic moment in the evolving India–Morocco strategic partnership.
“For India, this initiative reflects the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Self-reliance does not mean isolation. We want to develop such capabilities that allow us to independently protect our nation while also maintaining engagement with global partners,” Singh said.
He stressed that India’s defence vision is not limited to meeting its own requirements but also aims to make the country a credible source of advanced technology and high-quality products for the world. (ANI)
