New Delhi [India], October 7 (ANI): Gregor Trumel, Counsellor for Education, Science, and Culture at the Embassy of France in India, has underscored the steady growth in Indian students choosing France for higher education, noting a “17 percent jump in Indian enrolments” this year. Speaking during the Choose France Tour in Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata, he reaffirmed France’s commitment to educational collaboration with India under the Choose France initiative.
Trumel said, “We are working very hard to achieve 30,000 Indian students in France by 2030. Two years ago, enrolments grew by 25 percent, and last year by 17 percent. This year’s growth is very encouraging.” He noted that currently about 10,000 Indian students study in France, with 85 percent enrolled in management and business programmes, but opportunities are expanding across engineering, science, social sciences, and humanities.
Highlighting France’s growing academic outreach, Trumel revealed that the number of participating French universities has risen from 42 two years ago to 59 this year. “We now have 1,600 programmes in English, giving Indian students vast opportunities to study without language barriers,” he said. He encouraged students to explore France’s academic offerings, calling it “a new world” of opportunities.
Trumel stressed India’s importance to France, saying, “There is no change in our visa or education policy. India remains a priority for us. We want to host 30,000 Indian students by 2030.” He praised Indian students for their academic excellence, adaptability, and eagerness to learn French, adding, “You will have excellent education, great experiences, and exposure to a new corporate culture.”
He also emphasised France’s strengths in management, engineering, science, health, aerospace, and innovation, citing institutions like École Polytechnique and noting France’s rich legacy of Nobel Prize winners. “French is a global language spoken by 400 million people. This is an opportunity worth considering,” Trumel said.
Trumel pointed to scholarships and career prospects as additional incentives. “We offer 500 scholarships for outstanding students, and more than 1,000 French companies in India provide 500,000 jobs. The Indo-French relationship is growing rapidly,” he noted.
He concluded by urging students to explore the Choose France Tour: “It’s the right time to study in France. Great schools, excellent education, and affordability make France a compelling choice.”
