“No One Is Above the Law”
It’s easier said against a perceived foe
If you’ve committed a crime,
you should face the music, after all, crime hurts—
Even people not involved, hence why should you
escape the just reward for your evil deeds?
You should be brought to justice, Imprisoned
or sent to the gallows for all the wrongs you’ve done—
Or even for those we choose to frame against you!
Because, you see, you are evil for defying us,
And not obeying our demands.
Even if you haven’t committed a crime,
We’ll find one to charge you with.
We’ll shout and scream, “No one is above the law!”
But spare us your rage—
The law is only for you, not for us!
Because we are beyond reproach,
Whatever we do is right.
It may not be morally true, but who cares about morals,
they’re bound to our feelings?
Right and wrong hold no universal value for us—
Truth and facts aren’t our measuring stick.
What suits us is the truth.
Anyone who challenges us is wrong,
They should be banished, imprisoned, or even killed.
Opposing us is a crime— “No one is above the law!”
But when the tables turn, and you gain power,
If you use the same tactics we used to destroy you,
We’ll cry foul, You’re out for revenge,
Tearing down the country, we serve with disdain.
Because whatever we do is always right,
But you are always wrong,
Even though you’re truly upright.
That’s what we say: You can do no right,
If you don’t fit into our mold, you’re wrong.
Laws don’t apply to us, but to you—
After all, “No one is above the law.”
