Berlin [Germany], November 9 (ANI): The Baloch National Movement (BNM) hosted a major gathering in Berlin to mark Baloch Martyrs’ Day, drawing political leaders, human rights activists, and members of the Baloch diaspora from multiple countries. The event highlighted decades-long repression in Balochistan and reaffirmed calls for a free and independent Balochistan.
Moderated by Shali Baloch and Nadeem Saleem, the event featured speeches by BNM Chairman Dr. Naseem Baloch, World Sindhi Congress General Secretary Dr. Lakhu Luhana, Dr. Naseer Dashti, PTM Germany Coordinator Qadir Shah Ansari, BNM Germany President Shar Hassan Baloch, Vice President Safia Baloch, and Tamil activist Nivethan Nanthakumar.
Dr. Naseem Baloch condemned Pakistan’s military occupation of Balochistan, recalling the March 27, 1948 invasion as the start of systematic repression. He noted that the province remains under constant surveillance by military camps and intelligence agencies, with enforced disappearances continuing. Despite decades of brutality, he stressed that the Baloch spirit of resistance remains unbroken. “This is not a battle of guns, but a battle of belief and belief always triumphs,” he said, crediting the BNM with uniting and organizing the movement politically.
Dr. Lakhu Luhana criticised Pakistan’s Punjabi-led state for attempting to erase Baloch and Sindhi identities while exploiting regional resources, warning that the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment could further tighten federal control. Qadir Shah Ansari denounced atrocities against Baloch and Pashtun populations, urging the international community to challenge Pakistan’s military dominance and support civilian democracy.
Tamil activist Nivethan Nanthakumar drew parallels between the Tamil and Baloch liberation struggles, highlighting shared sacrifices for dignity and justice. Concluding the event, Safia Baloch honoured the martyrs, stating their legacy inspires future generations and emphasised that November 13 symbolizes both remembrance and a renewed commitment to Balochistan’s freedom.
