Tokyo [Japan], November 13 (ANI): The Japan Mobility Show, a major automotive exhibition held in Tokyo with participation from over 510 companies, drew significant attention to the booth of motorcycle giant Yamaha Motor.
Yamaha Motor CEO Motofumi Shitara stated that the company’s mission is to create deep satisfaction and excitement, a philosophy shaped by its 70 years of craftsmanship. “The development project of MOTOROiD began as an exploration of a new relationship between humans and mobility. In 2017, MOTOROiD stood up on its own and interacted with its rider. In 2023, Yamaha introduced MOTOROiD2 to express vitality. Two years later, our development team is presenting the next step forward,” Shitara said.
The third-generation MOTOROiD, known as MOTOROiD λ (lambda), is equipped with artificial intelligence that learns complex actions based on the rider’s movements. Yamaha expects this AI-powered motorcycle to interact with its rider much like a horse responds to its rider’s commands.
In collaboration with Toyota, Yamaha has also developed a hydrogen-powered motorcycle capable of running 100 kilometers on a single hydrogen charge, with a top speed of 90 kilometers per hour. The vehicle has already passed exhaust regulations and is nearing market release.
Yamaha also showcased its “EV Three Brothers” lineup—comprising a pure electric bike, a hybrid, and a plug-in hybrid—to meet the demands of the evolving mobility landscape. Additionally, the company presented a three-wheeled motorcycle with independent steering for the two front wheels and one rear wheel, offering enhanced control, smoothness, and riding excitement.
To further enrich daily life, Yamaha continues to develop electric power-assisted bicycles and wheelchairs. The company’s new large-wheel wheelchair is designed for rough terrains, while a smart wheelchair offers customizable configurations for both urban and suburban environments.
“Yamaha Motor is a company that creates satisfaction and excitement,” Shitara affirmed. “We will continue to inspire people’s desire to enjoy life.” He emphasized that Yamaha’s evolution will remain constant as it adapts to social needs while upholding its craftsmanship philosophy. (ANI)
