Geneva [Switzerland], November 15 (ANI/WAM): The United Arab Emirates has asserted that the Sudanese Armed Forces are using international platforms to circulate false and unfounded allegations in an attempt to mislead the global community and divert attention from their own role in Sudan’s devastation.
Jamal Al Musharakh, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, delivered the remarks as the UAE exercised its right of reply during the 38th Special Session of the Human Rights Council on the human rights situation in and around El Fasher amid the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
He said that instead of working to end the civil war they initiated, the Sudanese Armed Forces are investing their efforts in “misleading disinformation campaigns” to prolong the conflict and obstruct genuine efforts to achieve peace. He added that United Nations reports document war crimes and grave violations of international law committed by both the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.
Al Musharakh emphasized that the Sudanese Armed Forces rejected a humanitarian truce despite intensive efforts led by the United States, as part of the Quad and supported by the UAE. The truce, he noted, could have prevented the recent escalation in El Fasher and facilitated the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The UAE reaffirmed its firm support for all efforts aimed at securing an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire and urged both parties to uphold their legal and humanitarian obligations. It called on the warring sides to prioritize the welfare of the Sudanese people, who continue to suffer the consequences of the prolonged conflict.
The UAE reiterated its commitment to working with regional and international partners, including the Quad, to launch a comprehensive transitional process that would lead to the establishment of an independent civilian-led government not controlled by either faction.
“Those who claim to have built the glory of other nations should reflect on the destruction they have inflicted on their own people,” Al Musharakh said. “They should focus on rebuilding their country rather than spreading false information.”
He concluded by stating that nations are built on peace, tolerance, and dialogue—not on massacres and destruction. He reminded the session that the Port Sudan Authority, which is seeking international sympathy, is the same entity that “drowned Darfur in blood twenty years ago” and again seized power by force from a democratically elected civilian government in October 2021.
