Washington, DC [US], November 19 (ANI): President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have finalized a series of “landmark agreements” that expand the US-Saudi strategic partnership, bolster American jobs, strengthen critical supply chains, and enhance regional security, the White House announced on Wednesday.
According to the statement, President Trump approved a major defense package that includes future deliveries of F-35 fighter jets, marking a significant shift in regional defense dynamics. The White House said the package “strengthens the US defense industrial base and ensures Saudi Arabia continues to buy American.” The President also secured an agreement for Riyadh to purchase nearly 300 American-made tanks, a move expected to support hundreds of US jobs while boosting Saudi Arabia’s defense capabilities.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also announced USD 1 trillion in investments in the United States—an increase from the USD 600 billion pledged during Trump’s visit to Riyadh earlier this year. The White House emphasized that the new investments underscore Saudi Arabia’s confidence in the US economy and further solidify economic ties between the two nations.
A key outcome of the meetings was the signing of a Joint Declaration on Civil Nuclear Energy Cooperation, which establishes the framework for a long-term, multi-billion-dollar partnership in nuclear energy. The agreement ensures that US companies will serve as Saudi Arabia’s preferred partners for nuclear projects while adhering to strict non-proliferation standards. The White House described the partnership as a major milestone for American leadership in global energy technology.
The two sides also signed a Critical Minerals Framework aimed at diversifying and securing essential mineral supply chains. This deal builds on similar agreements the Trump administration has pursued with other trade partners to reinforce US supply chain resilience.
Another major development was a landmark Artificial Intelligence Memorandum of Understanding, granting Saudi Arabia access to advanced American AI systems with safeguards in place to prevent misuse by foreign actors.
President Trump and the Crown Prince also signed the US-Saudi Strategic Defence Agreement (SDA), which enhances defense cooperation, boosts deterrence capabilities, and expands opportunities for US defense firms to operate in Saudi Arabia. “The SDA is a win for the America First agenda,” the White House said, noting that it includes burden-sharing commitments from Saudi Arabia and reaffirms the Kingdom’s view of the US as its primary strategic partner.
The full package of agreements spans defense, nuclear energy, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, and financial cooperation. According to the White House, the deals will significantly expand market access for American businesses. Both nations also plan to intensify efforts to reduce non-tariff barriers and improve the investment environment in the coming weeks.
Earlier in the day, the Crown Prince received an elaborate welcome at the White House, including an Army-mounted honor guard, a military flyover of six aircraft, and cannon salutes on the South Lawn. President Trump escorted him along the newly established “Presidential Walk of Fame” before heading to the Oval Office.
Inside the Oval Office, the Crown Prince signaled Saudi Arabia’s readiness to join the Abraham Accords—agreements that normalized relations between Israel and several Arab countries—while stressing that participation would depend on progress toward a two-state solution with the Palestinians. “We want to be part of the accord, but we also want to be sure that we secure a clear path to a two-state solution,” he said.
In a significant policy shift, President Trump confirmed plans to sell advanced F-35 stealth fighters to Saudi Arabia, ending Israel’s exclusive access to the aircraft in the region. While the move could reshape the Middle East’s military balance, Washington maintains its longstanding commitment to preserving Israel’s qualitative military edge. (ANI)
