New Delhi [India], November 20 (ANI): Officials from India’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Russia’s Ministry of Civil Defence (EMERCOM) have reached an agreement to cooperate in the field of protecting populations from emergencies. The Russian Embassy, in a post on social media platform X, said a meeting between representatives of NDMA and EMERCOM was held on Wednesday.
The Embassy noted that India expressed interest in sending specialists to Russia for advanced training and experience exchange. The two sides also discussed prospects for cooperation, including preparations for a meeting between the Russian delegation and representatives of India’s Ministry of Home Affairs, as well as plans to hold a series of lectures on coordination during emergency situations.
According to a statement shared on Telegram by the Embassy, the meeting resulted in an agreement to collaborate closely on emergency protection efforts. It reiterated that India is keen to send experts for training in Russia, and both sides are exploring opportunities for deeper engagement, including structured exchanges and capacity-building activities.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Nikolai Patrushev, aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his visit to New Delhi. Both sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and reviewed preparations for the upcoming annual India-Russia Summit scheduled for early December.
Patrushev, who also chairs Russia’s Maritime Board, reaffirmed the mutual commitment to enhancing maritime capabilities and broadening cooperation across key areas of the strategic partnership between India and Russia. (ANI)
