New Delhi [India], December 4 (ANI): Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov highlighted the long-standing friendship between Russia and India during the 22nd India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M&MTC) ministerial meeting. The meeting was attended by an Indian delegation led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Belousov said the bilateral relationship is rooted in mutual respect and shared traditions. “Our countries are tied with a solid, time-proven friendship, which is based on mutual respect. On our way here, we came to a common understanding of the deep traditions typical of the Russian and Indian nations,” he stated. He also expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to the Russian delegation upon arrival in India.
The Russian Defence Minister underscored the strategic nature of India-Russia relations, describing the partnership as a key factor in maintaining balance in South Asia and global stability. “This year we mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, and I personally thank the Indian delegation for participating in the commemorative events in Moscow this May,” he added.
Belousov congratulated India on Navy Day and acknowledged Russia’s full-scale cooperation with India in shaping the future of the Army, Air Force, and Navy. He also noted that the intergovernmental commission facilitates effective and mutually beneficial decisions in the military domain.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reaffirmed that Russia remains a strategic partner in defence and technology. He noted that the upcoming meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin will further strengthen the special privileged partnership between the two nations. (ANI)
