Washington, DC [US], January 1 (ANI): US President Donald Trump hosted a New Year celebration at his Florida resort on Thursday and said his wish for the coming year is to see “peace on Earth,” Fox News reported. The gala was attended by several high-profile guests, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara.
Addressing attendees, Trump praised his administration’s performance and asserted that the United States has regained strength and momentum. “We’re taking in hundreds of millions of dollars in tariffs,” the president said. “We’re doing great as a country. We’re back. We’re strong. I didn’t think it could happen this fast. It’s happening faster than anybody thought possible.”
During the event, Trump also acted as an auctioneer for a painting of Jesus Christ’s face by artist Vanessa Horabuena. He said the proceeds would go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and a sheriff’s department. The painting sold for USD 2.75 million.
Earlier, in what he described as positive news to mark the New Year, Trump announced that the National Guard would be withdrawn from Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland. He claimed their presence had contributed to a reduction in crime in those cities, while suggesting that federal forces could be redeployed in the future if crime rises again.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote that the National Guard was being removed “despite the fact that CRIME has been greatly reduced by having these great Patriots in those cities.” He added that the federal government could return “in a much different and stronger form” if crime increases again.
“It is hard to believe that these Democrat mayors and governors, all of whom are greatly incompetent, would want us to leave, especially considering the great progress that has been made?” the post read.
Just a week earlier, the US Supreme Court declined to authorize the deployment of the National Guard in Chicago over objections from Illinois officials.
Trump also reiterated his claim that tariffs have driven record levels of investment into the United States. He said companies are establishing factories and businesses across the country at unprecedented levels because domestically manufactured products face no tariffs.
In another Truth Social post, Trump wrote that the United States has set a world record for investment inflows, exceeding those of China by trillions of dollars, attributing the surge to his tariff policies. “If you make your product in the U.S., there are no tariffs,” he wrote, adding that factories and businesses are being built nationwide “at a level never seen before.” (ANI)
