Bhogapuram (Andhra Pradesh) [India], January 4: Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on Sunday clarified that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) guidelines prohibiting the use of power banks on aircraft are intended to ensure passenger and flight safety.
“Whenever DGCA issues guidelines or rules, it keeps the safety of people and aircraft in mind. These rules are based on thorough research, consultations, and recommendations from the International Civil Aviation Organisation. Once decided, it is important for us to follow them to maintain safety,” the Minister told ANI.
Speaking on the IndiGo disruptions, Naidu said the inquiry committee’s report has been received and is under detailed analysis by the DGCA. “Through the DGCA, we are exploring the facts mentioned in the report and conducting an in-depth analysis. Once thorough, we will take appropriate action,” he added.
Earlier, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers addressed employees, stating that the airline has stabilized operations after a challenging period. He noted that the carrier has restored its network to 2,200 flights and thanked staff across all functions for their support during the disruptions. “Dear IndiGo colleagues, through the storm, we are finding our wings again. The worst is behind us,” Elbers said. (ANI)
