New Delhi, January 17 (ANI): US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Saturday held talks with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra to discuss increased cooperation, particularly in the technology sector.
In a post on social media platform X, Gor said he enjoyed meeting the RBI Governor and noted that the discussions covered areas of enhanced cooperation, including the use of new state-of-the-art US technology.
During his visit to India, Gor also met N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Companies. In another post on X, he described the meeting as productive and highlighted Tata Group’s 150-year-old legacy and its significant presence in the United States.
On Friday, Gor visited the US Consulate in Mumbai during his first trip to the city, stating that the visit marked the beginning of efforts to further strengthen the US-India partnership. Sharing an update on X, he said he was excited to begin his Mumbai visit with a stop at the Consulate and praised the team’s work in advancing bilateral ties.
The Mumbai visit came days after Gor presented his credentials to President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 14. In a post on X, he said he was grateful to President Donald Trump for his trust and confidence and expressed pride in carrying forward the administration’s priorities. He added that the United States and India would work together to strengthen cooperation in security, trade, energy, and technology, helping shape a partnership for the 21st century.
Gor said it was an honor to present his credentials to President Murmu and to serve in India at a time of significant promise and opportunity in US-India relations. He said he looked forward to working closely with the Government of India and the Indian people to advance shared priorities in defense, trade, technology, and critical minerals, and to further deepen ties between the two democracies.
In a separate statement, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said President Droupadi Murmu received credentials from Chandradath Singh, High Commissioner of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago; Dr. Robert Zischg, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria; and Sergio Gor, Ambassador of the United States of America, at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
