New Delhi [India], February 3 (ANI): US Ambassador Sergio Gor will visit Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan from February 3 to 7, according to a press statement issued by the US State Department.
Ambassador Gor, who serves as the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, will attend the B5+1 Business Forum in Bishkek, where he is expected to engage with senior business leaders and policymakers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, collectively known as the C5, along with representatives from the United States.
The statement said that during high-level discussions, Gor will emphasize the critical role of the business community in advancing cooperation between the United States and Central Asia. In both Bishkek and Tashkent, he is also scheduled to meet senior officials to explore opportunities for enhanced bilateral collaboration.
“The United States is committed to fostering closer economic ties with the Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan and developing innovative partnerships that promote stability and prosperity throughout the region,” the statement said.
The visit comes shortly after Gor traveled to Turkmenistan from January 22 to January 23. Describing that visit as positive, he wrote on X on January 27 that he had discussed recent developments in the region with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and thanked Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedow for the warm hospitality.
Earlier on Monday, following the announcement of the India–US trade deal, Gor welcomed the development in a post on X, saying President Donald Trump considers Prime Minister Narendra Modi a close friend and describing the agreement as a reflection of the “limitless potential” of the relationship between the two countries.
The trade deal with the United States comes just a week after India signed a landmark agreement with the European Union. Prime Minister Modi spoke with President Trump on Monday and later said he was delighted that Made in India products would now face a reduced tariff of 18 percent.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said cooperation between the world’s largest democracies benefits their people and unlocks immense opportunities for mutual growth. He added that India supports President Trump’s leadership for global peace, stability, and prosperity and looks forward to strengthening the partnership further.
India and the European Union announced the conclusion of negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement on January 27, marking a significant milestone in one of India’s most strategic economic partnerships.
