NEW DELHI, India, February 15 (ANI): French President Emmanuel Macron will arrive in Mumbai, Maharashtra, on February 16 for a visit to India, during which he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 17, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
Following their meeting in Mumbai, Modi and Macron will travel to New Delhi to attend the AI Impact Summit 2026.
According to the MEA, the two leaders will exchange memorandums of understanding (MOUs) in Mumbai, followed by a press statement. The Taj Mahal Palace hotel will host the India-France Innovation Forum, and events commemorating the India-France Year of Innovation and Cultural Commemoration will be held at the Gateway of India.
Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron will visit Mumbai and New Delhi from February 16 to 19, the ministry said.
The Year of Innovation 2026 initiative will be celebrated throughout the year in both countries and aims to deepen collaboration in innovation, technology, research, and people-to-people exchanges.
This will mark Macron’s fourth visit to India at the invitation of Modi, signaling sustained momentum in the India-France strategic partnership, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence cooperation and emerging technologies.
In a post on X on Friday, the French Embassy in India said Macron will visit India for bilateral engagements and to attend the AI Impact Summit, describing the trip as another significant chapter in expanding ties between New Delhi and Paris.
Macron’s visit comes amid a steadily strengthening partnership between India and France across defense, space, civil nuclear energy, climate action, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
According to the French Embassy, Macron’s first visit to India in 2018 marked a new chapter in France-India relations.
Meanwhile, the India-AI Impact Summit, the first global AI summit to be hosted in the Global South, will be held from February 16 to 20. It will be anchored in three guiding “sutras” — People, Planet, and Progress — and structured around seven key “chakras,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said. (ANI)
