
New Delhi [India], May 18 (ANI): National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval held a telephonic conversation with Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) of Iran, on Sunday, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
During the call, NSA Doval highlighted India’s interest in expanding cooperation on two key infrastructure projects: the Chabahar Port and the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC). Doval praised Iran’s constructive role in the region and expressed gratitude for its continued support.
Iran’s embassy in India shared the development on X, emphasizing that both countries, as ancient civilizations with strong ties, have substantial potential for political and economic cooperation. Ahmadian underscored the importance of swiftly implementing strategic projects, noting that bilateral collaboration aligns with the goal of regional peace and stability.
Earlier, on May 8, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar acknowledged the progress made in India-Iran relations over recent years during the 20th India-Iran Joint Commission Meeting in Delhi. Jaishankar referenced the 2024 meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Kazan, Russia, which guided the expansion of ties.
This latest discussion between Doval and Ahmadian reflects India’s intention to strengthen connectivity and trade through the Chabahar Port and INSTC, vital components in fostering economic cooperation between the two nations. (ANI)
