
New York [US], May 25 (ANI): An all-party delegation from India, led by Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor, arrived in New York as part of a diplomatic mission aimed at highlighting India’s unified and uncompromising position against terrorism in all its forms. The outreach is part of a broader effort to strengthen global partnerships in combating terrorism, the Consulate General of India in New York stated in an official press release.
The delegation includes Bhubaneswar Kalita (Rajya Sabha), Milind Murli Deora (Rajya Sabha), Shashank Mani Tripathi (Lok Sabha), Ganti Harish Madhur (Lok Sabha), and Ambassador (Retd.) Taranjit Singh Sandhu. Their visit reflects India’s commitment to engage with key international allies, particularly the United States, to bolster cooperation in counter-terrorism initiatives.
While in New York, the delegation visited the National September 11 Memorial & Museum to pay homage to the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks. In a solemn tribute, they honored the lives lost and reiterated India’s solidarity with global efforts to combat terrorism, emphasizing empathy for all victims of extremist violence.
In addition to the memorial visit, the delegation held strategic meetings with leading think tanks, academic institutions, and members of the media. These engagements focused on enhancing India-US strategic relations and advancing joint efforts to confront the evolving global threat of terrorism. During these discussions, the delegation consistently conveyed India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and showcased national consensus on the issue.
The visit forms part of India’s ongoing diplomatic outreach to promote consensus on the need for stronger international counter-terrorism frameworks. The delegation also stressed the importance of dismantling terror financing and support networks and ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable through international cooperation.
