
Washington DC [US], June 5 (ANI): An all-party delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor met with US Vice President JD Vance on Thursday in Washington DC. The discussions focused on critical issues such as counter-terrorism and enhancing technological cooperation between India and the United States.
Shashi Tharoor shared details of the meeting on X, stating, “Excellent meeting with Vice President @JDVance today in Washington D.C. with our delegation. We had comprehensive discussions covering a wide array of critical issues, from counter-terrorism efforts to enhancing technological cooperation. The delegation comprises leaders from various political parties, including Shambhavi Chaudhary (Lok Janshakti Party), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), G M Harish Balayogi (Telugu Desam Party), Shashank Mani Tripathi, Tejaswi Surya, and Bhubaneswar Kalita (all from BJP), Mallikarjun Devda (Shiv Sena), former Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora.
The delegation arrived in the US after completing a visit to Brazil. Their mission is to brief key US stakeholders on Operation Sindoor, India’s diplomatic initiative combating terrorism and disinformation following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
On June 4, the delegation met with leadership from the House Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans in the 119th Congress, including co-chairs Rep. Ro Khanna and Rep. Rich McCormick, and vice co-chairs Rep. Andy Barr and Rep. Marc Veasey. They also held a high-level meeting with the House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC), hosted by Chairman Rep. Brian Mast and Ranking Member Rep. Gregory Meeks.
Other attendees included HFAC’s South and Central Asia Subcommittee Chair Rep. Bill Huizenga, Ranking Member Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, East Asia & Pacific Subcommittee Chair Rep. Young Kim, and Ranking Member Rep. Ami Bera. The delegation also met Rep. Lisa McClain, Chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, the highest-ranking woman in Congress.
In addition, the delegation engaged with members of the Indian diaspora, who expressed solidarity with terrorism victims and support for India’s fight against terrorism.
