
Amritsar (Punjab) [India], July 14 (ANI): The Golden Temple in Amritsar received a bomb threat on Monday, prompting heightened security measures and a police investigation, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) confirmed in a police complaint.
Amritsar Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar told ANI that the police received a complaint from the SGPC after the committee received an email threatening a blast at the holy shrine. “We received a complaint from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee authorities that they have received an email threatening a blast in the Golden Temple. We are taking the help of the state cybercrime and other agencies,” Bhullar said.
He assured that the case is being taken very seriously and the authorities are confident of resolving it soon. “We are hopeful that we will crack the case soon. We are taking this case very seriously. We are ensuring foolproof security. There is no need to get panicked,” the commissioner added.
The police have registered an FIR and launched a formal investigation. Bomb disposal squads, SGPC security personnel, and additional police forces have been deployed around the Golden Temple complex as a precautionary measure. Authorities have also appealed to the public to remain calm and vigilant, urging citizens to report any suspicious activity immediately.
