New Delhi [India], May 24 (ANI): Union Minister Anupriya Patel underscored the strategic importance of India’s North East region in the country’s development journey during the Rising North East Investors Summit 2025, held in New Delhi. Emphasizing the healthcare sector as a critical focus area, she called for increased private sector involvement to bolster access to affordable and quality medical services across the eight Northeastern states.
Speaking at the summit on Saturday, Minister Patel said, “The north-east part of our country is one of the priorities of our government and a very important pillar of India’s Act East policy. Taking this notion forward, the Rising North East Investor Summit 2025 has been organised. Under this, healthcare is an important segment… The private sector can play a crucial role in the advancement of healthcare in the entire North East region.”
She highlighted that the central government, in collaboration with state governments, has worked diligently to expand healthcare access. The private sector’s active participation, she noted, would further enhance the impact of these efforts.
The two-day summit, held at Bharat Mandapam from May 23 to 24, aims to attract investments across key sectors in the Northeastern states, including infrastructure, tourism, agro-food processing, energy, textiles, IT, semiconductors, education, and healthcare. The event serves as a platform for policy dialogues, investment promotion, and business networking.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the summit on Friday, affirming the government’s dedication to the sustained progress of the North East. He praised the collaborative efforts of various ministries and state governments in fostering a business-friendly environment in the region.
In his address, PM Modi remarked, “For us, EAST is not just a direction but a vision—Empower, Act, Strengthen, and Transform.” He also highlighted that over 700 visits have been made by Union Ministers to the North East, demonstrating the Centre’s commitment to building trust and tailoring development strategies to the region’s unique aspirations.
The summit features high-level ministerial sessions, Business-to-Government (B2G) and Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings, startup showcases, and exhibitions displaying key policy initiatives of both the central and state governments.
Pre-summit activities included a series of roadshows, roundtables with state representatives, the Ambassador’s Meet, and Bilateral Chambers Meet, all designed to generate momentum and attract strategic investments into the region.
The spotlight on healthcare during the summit aligns with the broader national objectives of achieving inclusive and equitable development, particularly in regions that have historically remained underserved.
