NEW DELHI [India], December 17 (ANI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday arrested the 11th accused in a multi-state illegal arms and ammunition trafficking case, identifying him as a key figure in the syndicate.
The accused, Kamalkant Verma, also known as Uncle Ji, hails from Patna, Bihar. He is reported to have played a central role in procuring ammunition illegally from gun houses in Haryana and other regions. The seized arms and ammunition were transported to Uttar Pradesh and then distributed across Bihar and other parts of northern India.
Kamalkant’s arrest follows NIA searches conducted on December 4 at 23 locations across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Haryana, which resulted in the apprehension of four other accused—Ravi Ranjan, Shashi Prakash, Vijay Kalra, and Kush Kalra—and multiple seizures of arms and ammunition.
The latest arrest is a significant step in the NIA’s ongoing probe, aimed at dismantling the supply chain of illegal arms and ammunition trafficking in North India.
