Patna [Bihar], November 12 (ANI): The exit poll conducted by Axis My India has projected a win for the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Bihar Assembly elections, though with a narrower margin compared to other recent surveys. The poll forecasts the NDA securing 121-141 seats in the 243-member assembly, while the Mahagathbandhan is predicted to win 98-118 seats. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party, contesting for the first time, is expected to gain two seats.
According to the survey, the NDA is likely to receive 43 per cent of the votes, compared to 41 per cent for the Mahagathbandhan, reflecting a close two-percentage-point difference. Jan Suraaj may obtain 4 per cent of the vote share, while other parties are projected at 11 per cent.
Among individual parties, the RJD is expected to emerge as the single largest party with 67-76 seats, followed by Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) with 56-62 seats. The BJP, which had 74 seats in the 2020 elections, is projected to fall to third place with 50-56 seats. Congress may secure 17-21 seats.
Within the NDA, Chirag Paswan’s LJP (RV) could win 11-16 seats, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM 2-3 seats, and Upendra Kushwaha’s RLM 2-4 seats. Among Mahagathbandhan constituents, Left parties may secure 10-14 seats, Mukesh Sahni’s VIP 3-5 seats, and IIP 0-1 seats.
Region-wise, the NDA is projected to perform strongly in the Patliputra-Magadh region with 35 out of 60 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan may win 25. In Mithilanchal, NDA may take 32 out of 58 seats versus 25 for the opposition. In Bhojpur, NDA is expected to win 27 out of 49 seats, with Mahagathbandhan at 21. In Champaran, NDA may secure 12 out of 21 seats, with the opposition taking nine. Conversely, Mahagathbandhan is projected to lead in Seemanchal with 15 seats against NDA’s eight, while Kosi region shows a close contest with NDA at 16 seats and Mahagathbandhan at 15 out of 31 seats.
Polling in Bihar concluded on Tuesday with a record turnout of 66.91 per cent, the highest since 1951.
Other exit polls released earlier had also projected NDA victories but with slightly different margins. The People’s Pulse survey gave NDA 133-159 seats, People’s Insight 133-148, JVC 135-150, and DVC Research 137-152 seats. Mahagathbandhan’s seat projections ranged from 75-103 across surveys, while Jan Suraaj and other parties were expected to win minimal seats.
Votes for the Bihar Assembly elections will be counted on November 14. (ANI)
