Riyadh [Saudi Arabia], May 28 (ANI): In a powerful show of national unity and firm resolve against terrorism, an all-party parliamentary delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday. The visit aims to enhance diplomatic ties and explore avenues of strategic cooperation between India and Saudi Arabia.
The delegation received a warm welcome from Maj. Gen. Abdulrahman Alharbi, Chair of the India-Saudi Arabia Council Friendship Committee of the Shura Council. Acknowledging the reception, Panda stated on X (formerly Twitter), “India’s stand on terrorism is resolute & uncompromising — a message we bring to Saudi Arabia with our all-party delegation. Appreciate the warm welcome by H.E. Maj. Gen. Abdulrahman Alharbi, Chair of the Friendship Committee Shura Council, as we begin key engagements to strengthen our growing partnership.”
The diverse delegation includes BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey, Phangnon Konyak, Rekha Sharma, and Satnam Singh Sandhu, along with AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, and former diplomat Harsh Shringla.
This initiative, comprising seven multi-party delegations each led by an MP, is part of India’s broader diplomatic strategy to counter global misinformation and emphasize its zero-tolerance policy on terrorism.
Prior to their engagements in Riyadh, the delegation visited Kuwait, where they interacted with members of the Indian diaspora, civil society leaders, former ministers, royal family members, editors, industrialists, and academics. These sessions provided a platform to project India’s unified stance against terrorism and garnered enthusiastic support from the Indian community abroad.
The visit comes amid India’s increasing diplomatic offensive against terror funding linked to Pakistan, which recently saw Pakistan relisted on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Grey List. Government sources confirmed that India plans to submit a comprehensive dossier to FATF detailing evidence of terror financing and money laundering linked to Pakistani entities and individuals.
This diplomatic outreach follows Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 civilian lives. The operation led to precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, neutralizing over 100 terrorists affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Through these diplomatic and military measures, the Modi government continues to reinforce India’s assertive foreign policy stance, focusing on global security, regional stability, and counterterrorism cooperation. (ANI)
