Balochistan [Pakistan], April 5 (ANI): The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has strongly condemned the killing of Abdul Malik Baloch, a victim of enforced disappearance, who was allegedly killed in a fake encounter in Zehri, Khuzdar district. The incident has reignited public outrage over extrajudicial killings and state violence in Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), the BYC said:
“The authorities claimed that four people have been killed in an encounter with forces in Zehri area of district Khuzdar. However, one of them was identified as Abdul Malik Baloch… forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces on 11 October, 2024, from Turbat.”
⚠️ From Disappearance to Death
- Abdul Malik was abducted by Pakistani forces in October 2024, according to his family.
- Despite active participation in rallies and sit-ins demanding his safe return, his family was ultimately handed his bullet-riddled body, branded a “terrorist.”
- The incident follows broken promises by the local administration during March sit-ins in Kalat, where families of the missing were told their loved ones would be located within 15 days.
💬 BYC Calls Out State Brutality
The BYC accused the Pakistani state of waging a campaign of systemic repression against the Baloch people:
“The colonial State is suppressing the Baloch using all its might — by ruthless killing, abductions, torture, arrests of national leaders, and spreading chaos.”
The committee also urged all Baloch citizens to stand united in resisting what it labeled as a “fascist regime”:
“Every voice is important in a time when the State is trying to silence us. We must speak for Abdul Malik, who, like thousands, was martyred in the name of the Baloch.”
🌍 A Region in Crisis
Balochistan, despite being rich in natural resources, continues to suffer from:
- Enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings
- Economic neglect and underdevelopment
- Lack of political autonomy
- Widespread human rights violations
The BYC also highlighted issues like frequent internet shutdowns, which prevent communities from organizing, sharing information, or seeking justice.
“Human rights abuses, such as killings and disappearances, are widespread. Dissent is brutally suppressed, with strict limitations on freedom of speech, assembly, and movement.”
