Dhaka [Bangladesh], December 4 (ANI): Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is set to be sent to London for advanced medical treatment, her doctor confirmed on Thursday.
“If everything goes well, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will be taken to London after midnight today, Thursday, or early tomorrow, Friday. The decision to take her to London has been made on the advice of specialist doctors,” AZM Zahid Hossain, Khaleda Zia’s doctor, told reporters. Qatar will provide air ambulance support for her medical transfer. Khaleda Zia’s son, Tarique Rahman, who resides in London, is handling arrangements for her treatment.
Begum Khaleda Zia was admitted to Dhaka’s Evercare Hospital on November 23 with a lung infection. She has been receiving care under both local and foreign specialist doctors from the Medical Board. She suffers from multiple chronic conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis, and kidney complications. Earlier this year, she traveled to London on January 8 for advanced treatment, receiving care at the London Clinic for 17 days before continuing treatment under supervision at her son’s residence. She returned to Bangladesh on May 6.
