New Delhi [India], October 24 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin his Bihar election campaign on Friday with a visit to Samastipur district to pay homage to Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur. He will later address the public in Begusarai district ahead of the assembly elections.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to interact with Thakur’s family members around 12:15 pm, followed by a public meeting in Begusarai at 2 pm. Karpoori Thakur, a former Chief Minister of Bihar and prominent socialist leader, is remembered for his commitment to social justice and upliftment of marginalized communities. His policies, including reservations for backward classes, have had a lasting impact on the state.
In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “My respectful salutations to Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur Ji! Today, I will have the good fortune of paying tribute to him in Samastipur. Then, around 12:15 PM, I will have the opportunity to interact with my family members there.”
He further expressed confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party-National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) prospects in the elections. “After that, around 2 PM, I will seek the blessings of my brothers and sisters at the public meeting in Begusarai. The enthusiasm and excitement of the people of Bihar indicate that the BJP-NDA is set to achieve a resounding victory in this time’s assembly elections as well,” PM Modi added.
State BJP president Dilip Jaiswal expressed optimism about the NDA securing a two-thirds majority. Speaking to ANI, he said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the world’s most popular leader. He will begin his election campaign by visiting the village of Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur. After paying tribute to him, his first rally will be held in Samastipur and the second in Begusarai.”
Jaiswal also criticized the Rashtriya Janata Dal and its leader Lalu Yadav, accusing them of pushing Bihar backward. “The 15-year rule of Lalu Yadav pushed Bihar backwards. Kidnapping, murder, and restrictions on women’s mobility were rampant, and infrastructure was lacking. People and new voters of Bihar know that they don’t want the jungleraj back… The voters have created a one-sided atmosphere across Bihar to form an NDA government,” he said.
The NDA has been highlighting its achievements in the state, with PM Modi and senior leaders, including Amit Shah, actively campaigning to consolidate support ahead of the elections. (ANI)
