Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 27 (ANI): Mumbai Police on Tuesday arrested a man from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area for allegedly making a bomb threat targeting Mumbai airport, officials said.
The police control room received a threat call around 9:00 am from an unidentified individual who claimed that he would blow up the Mumbai airport by 2:00 pm. Acting swiftly, the MIDC Police traced the call and apprehended the accused within an hour.
The suspect has been identified as Manjeet Kumar Gautam, 35, a native of Uttar Pradesh who currently resides in the Sakinaka area of Mumbai.
According to officials, preliminary investigations confirmed that Gautam was responsible for making the hoax call. He has been taken into custody for questioning, and the motive behind the threat is under investigation.
This incident follows a similar case earlier this month. On May 7, a bomb threat was received regarding an IndiGo flight en route from Chandigarh to Mumbai. The threat, delivered via a phone call to Sahar airport’s hotline, claimed a bomb had been planted on the aircraft.
The flight landed safely in Mumbai, where authorities followed standard protocol. The plane was moved to an isolation bay, passengers were safely disembarked, and a thorough inspection was conducted. No suspicious items were found, according to police and airline officials.
The investigation into the latest hoax threat is ongoing. (ANI)
