Tarn Taran (Punjab) [India], April 2 (ANI): The Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police recovered 548 grams of heroin from the border area of Tarn Taran district, officials reported on Wednesday.
Search Operation and Recovery
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, BSF troops, in coordination with Punjab Police, conducted a search operation in the border regions of Tarn Taran district.
During the operation, which concluded at approximately 2:36 PM, security forces recovered:
- A DJI Mavic-3 Classic drone
- A packet of suspected heroin weighing 548 grams
The narcotics packet was wrapped in yellow adhesive tape and had a steel ring attached to it, the BSF statement confirmed.
Foiling Smuggling Attempts
The swift and coordinated efforts of BSF and Punjab Police successfully thwarted another attempt by drug syndicates to smuggle narcotics into Punjab using drones.
Earlier Seizure in Amritsar District
On April 1, 2025, the BSF and Punjab Police conducted another search operation based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of a suspicious packet in Amritsar district.
- The operation culminated at approximately 8:30 AM near village Dhariwal.
- The security forces recovered:
- 492 grams of suspected heroin
- Medicines wrapped in transparent tape
- Three illumination strips and one steel ring attached to the packet
- The contraband was found near a cattle shed adjacent to village Dhariwal, Amritsar district.
This series of recoveries highlights the continued vigilance of BSF and Punjab Police in preventing cross-border drug smuggling activities.
