Washington, DC [US], June 23 (ANI): U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday claimed that the recent precision strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities caused “monumental damage,” stating that the term “obliteration” accurately describes the extent of destruction. He shared satellite imagery as evidence and praised the military’s execution of Operation Midnight Hammer.
“Monumental damage was done to all nuclear sites in Iran, as shown by satellite images. Obliteration is an accurate term!” Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social. He pointed specifically to the underground Fordow site, stating, “The white structure shown is deeply embedded into the rock, with even its roof well below ground level, and completely shielded from flame. The biggest damage took place far below ground level. Bullseye!!!”
The statement follows Saturday night’s coordinated U.S. airstrikes on three of Iran’s key underground nuclear facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—under the codename Operation Midnight Hammer. The Pentagon confirmed that Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bombs and Tomahawk missiles were used to destroy or severely degrade the facilities.
In a separate post, Trump broached the topic of Iran’s leadership, questioning whether regime change might be inevitable. “It’s not politically correct to use the term, ‘Regime Change,’ but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a regime change??? MIGA!!!”
Trump also expressed gratitude to the U.S. military, writing, “The damage to the nuclear sites in Iran is said to be ‘monumental.’ The hits were hard and accurate. Great skill was shown by our military. The GREAT B-2 pilots have just landed, safely, in Missouri. Thank you for a job well done!!!”
U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed the operation’s success during a joint press briefing with Air Force General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. “Last night, on President Trump’s order, the U.S. Central Command conducted a precision strike in the middle of the night against three nuclear facilities in Iran—Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz—in order to destroy or severely degrade Iran’s nuclear program,” Hegseth said.
He emphasized that the mission was aimed solely at curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions and not directed at military personnel or civilians. “It’s worth noting that the operation did not target Iranian troops or the Iranian people,” Hegseth stated.
While President Trump has raised the issue of potential regime change, Hegseth clarified that the mission itself was “not and has not been about regime change,” according to The Hill. Instead, the operation was intended to deliver a decisive blow to Iran’s nuclear program and reinforce U.S. deterrence.
Iran, in response, has denounced the strikes as a blatant violation of international law and vowed to continue its nuclear activities. Tensions remain high as global leaders call for restraint in the wake of escalating military actions in the Middle East. (ANI)
