
Sukma (Chhattisgarh) [US], June 11 (ANI): Security forces gunned down two Naxals during an encounter on Wednesday in the forested region under the jurisdiction of Kukanar Police Station in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, police confirmed.
Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan reported that automatic weapons were recovered from the site. The encounter between Naxals and security personnel was still ongoing at the time of reporting.
This incident follows the recent loss of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Akash Rao Giripunje, who was killed in an IED blast in Sukma district.
According to the Inspector General of Police, ASP Giripunje was conducting a foot patrol aimed at preventing Naxalite activity when the blast occurred near Dondra on the Konta-Errabora road. He sustained critical injuries and later succumbed to them.
