New Delhi [India], December 8 (ANI): The Chinese Embassy in India will launch a new online visa application system on December 22, Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong announced on Monday. In a post shared on X, the ambassador said applicants will be able to fill out visa forms and upload required documents online by visiting the designated portal.
According to the notice, the “China Online Visa Application System” will be officially activated on December 22, offering applicants a more convenient and streamlined submission process. The Chinese Visa Application Service Center in New Delhi will continue to operate during its regular working hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The center can be contacted at +91-9999036735 and is located on the concourse floor of the Shivaji Stadium Metro Station on Baba Kharak Singh Marg in Connaught Place.
The announcement comes shortly after the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed on November 26 that India’s visa regime for Chinese nationals is now fully restored for tourism and business purposes. The move marks the end of a five-year suspension imposed following the 2020 border clashes.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, during a weekly briefing, said tourist visas for Chinese nationals have resumed globally as of November 2025, expanding upon a limited reopening launched in July 2025. Business visas, which had already been reinstated earlier, continue to be processed as usual.
The normalization of visa services is part of a broader set of “people-centric” confidence-building measures agreed upon by both nations in 2025. These include the resumption of direct commercial flights in October 2025 and the revival of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra pilgrimage.
The return to full visa operations is expected to boost tourism, trade, and people-to-people exchanges between India and China — the world’s two most populous countries.
