New Delhi [India], April 27 (ANI): In the aftermath of the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, BJP leader Pradeep Bhandari accused Congress of playing a “good cop, bad cop” game, following their rhetoric against the Union Government over security lapses. Bhandari criticized the Congress for offering support in the all-party meeting while certain party leaders made statements that, according to him, undermined the severity of the attack and indirectly shielded Pakistan.
“The Congress is playing ‘good cop, bad cop’. On one hand, they express full support in the all-party meeting, while on the other, some of their leaders make statements that insult the victims and offer cover fire to Pakistan,” Pradeep Bhandari told ANI.
The terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people, was widely attributed to Pakistan-based operatives. Bhandari argued that any attempt to deflect responsibility was an insult to the victims and their families. His remarks were aimed at Congress leaders, particularly in Karnataka, who suggested that the terrorists did not inquire about the religion of their victims, a statement Bhandari considered to trivialize the gravity of the situation.
“This is an insult to the victims’ statements. The Congress is once again, like after 26/11, attempting to absolve Pakistan of its involvement. This behavior is insulting to the victims,” Bhandari remarked.
Bhandari also stressed that this was not the time for political point-scoring but for national unity. “This is not the time for politics; it is time for the country to unite. The nation stands united, and under the leadership of PM Modi, we will give Pakistan a befitting reply,” he added.
The Congress party had been vocal in criticizing the Union Government over the security lapses that led to the deadly attack at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, one of the deadliest in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama attack.
In response to the Pahalgam attack, India has taken strong measures against Pakistan, holding them accountable for their support of cross-border terrorism. The government has vowed that the terrorists responsible, as well as those involved in the conspiracy, will face severe punishment. (ANI)
