New Delhi [India], August 27 (ANI): The Election Commission of India (ECI) has received 53 claims and objections from the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2025 of Bihar’s electoral rolls. The deadline for submitting claims and objections is September 1.
According to the ECI’s daily bulletin on Wednesday, all 53 claims and objections from political parties came from the CPI (ML) Liberation, marking an increase of 43 from the previous day. Additionally, the Commission received 1,78,948 claims and objections directly from electors. Of these, 20,702 claims have been disposed of within seven days.
A total of 1,60,813 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties are authorised to collect Claims (Form 6) and Objections (Form 7) from the public and submit them with the prescribed declaration. The ECI clarified that generic complaints without the prescribed forms or declaration are not counted as claims or objections.
The Commission has also received 6,35,124 Form 6+Declarations from new electors who have attained the age of 18 years or above. Claims and objections are disposed of by the respective ERO/AERO only after the seven-day notice period and verification of eligibility. No name can be deleted from the draft list published on August 1, 2025, without a formal speaking order after proper enquiry.
The list of names not included in the draft electoral roll, along with reasons, is displayed on the websites of District Election Officers (DEOs) and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in a searchable format using the EPIC number. Aggrieved individuals may submit their claims with a copy of their Aadhaar card.
The SIR exercise in Bihar began on June 24, 2025, and approximately 65 lakh electors were found ineligible and excluded from the draft roll published on August 1. (ANI)
