New Delhi [India], December 10 (ANI): The Special NIA Court at Patiala House on Wednesday remanded Amir Rashid Ali and Jasir Bilal Wani in judicial custody following interrogation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Both accused were arrested in connection with the November 10 Delhi blast.
Principal District and Sessions Judge (Special NIA Judge) Anju Bajaj Chandana ordered 14 days of judicial custody for Amir Rashid Ali and Jasir Bilal Wani, also known as Danish. The accused were produced before the court under heavy security in a closed courtroom.
The Delhi blast, which occurred around 7 pm on November 10, involved a moving Hyundai i20 driven by an alleged suicide bomber, Umar Un Nabi, killing 15 people and injuring more than two dozen others.
According to the NIA, Amir Rashid Ali had travelled to Delhi to facilitate the purchase of the car later used as a vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Forensic investigation confirmed the identity of the deceased driver as Umar Un Nabi, a resident of Pulwama district and Assistant Professor in the General Medicine Department at Al Falah University in Faridabad. Another vehicle belonging to Nabi has also been seized and is under examination. So far, the NIA has examined 73 witnesses, including those injured in the blast.
Jasir Bilal Wani allegedly provided technical support for terror attacks using modified drones and attempted to manufacture a rocket. He was closely involved in the conspiracy with Umar Un Nabi. A resident of Qazigund in Anantnag district, Jammu & Kashmir, Jasir was arrested by an NIA team in the Valley.
The NIA continues to investigate multiple angles of the conspiracy, conducting searches across states to identify all individuals involved in the attack.
