New Delhi [India], June 16 (ANI): In a tragic incident, Delhi Police have apprehended three minors in connection with the robbery and murder of a man who was fatally stabbed while resisting the snatching of his mobile phone and personal belongings, officials confirmed on Monday.
The victim, identified as Amit Kumar, was attacked on June 10 and admitted to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital with two severe stab wounds on the right side of his chest. Despite prompt medical attention, Kumar succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police from Ashok Vihar Police Station treated the case as a blind murder due to the lack of eyewitnesses and immediate leads. A case was registered under FIR No. 325/25 U/s 103(1) BNS, and an intensive investigation was launched.
Investigators employed technical surveillance, reviewed CCTV footage, and conducted local inquiries in the vicinity of the crime scene. With the help of local intelligence and informers, the identities of the accused minors were established, and they were subsequently apprehended.
During sustained interrogation, the juveniles confessed to the crime. They admitted that they had targeted the victim in an attempt to snatch his mobile phone. When he resisted, they stabbed him with a dagger and fled with his phone, wallet, and identification documents.
According to police, the crime was driven by the accused minors’ desire to earn easy money to fund a lavish lifestyle beyond their financial means. The police recovered the weapon of offence—a dagger—as well as the deceased’s wallet and ID card from the accused.
The case highlights the growing concern of juvenile involvement in violent street crimes, and authorities emphasized the need for continuous community vigilance and engagement to prevent such tragic incidents. (ANI)
